Dear golfers, there are a few rules and regulations that we need to abide by for this fundraiser event, so please review this FAQ as it pertains to the safety of our golfers and our community:

Is there a dress code? Ruby Hill has a strict “no denim” policy, and we ask all golfers to please wear a collared shirt. Shorts are ok (but no basketball shorts please).

How do I get to Ruby Hill? For those playing for the first time at Ruby Hill, you will enter through a gated community. There is an entrance off Highway 84, which is the east entrance, or you can enter from Vineyard Ave, which is the main gate. Please tell the gate staff your name and that you are part of the St. Joseph School Golf Tournament. Please have your ID ready in case they ask for it. You are all on the gate list and should be able to get in with no problems. Once you get to the parking lot, please go to the left side and follow the road down to the bag drop.

What does the schedule look like? The day will begin with registration at 9:30 am. Please be sure to collect your gift bag and lunch during check-in. You will also be able to purchase raffle tickets and mulligan bags during check-in. We will have a 5 hole putting contest at 10 am at the putting green by the driving range. This is included in the mulligan bag, and there will be a prize for the winner. We will then have a shotgun start at 11 am.

What’s included in a mulligan bag? This includes: 2 Mulligans (redo shot; count stroke on mulligan shot), 1 Throw-in (no stroke added for the throw; can’t use on the green), and 1 Gimme putt inside the feet on the back of the card (stroke counts if card is used).

What are the rules? With the exception of Pars 3 and 18, there will be two groups at each hole – men (white tees) and women (red tees). Here are the four person scramble rules:

  • Please keep pace with the group ahead of you as we will do our best to play a five hour round
  • All players drive off every tee
  • Team must use each team member’s tee shot at least twice during the round
  • Team selects the ball in the best position and next shot is played within one club length of that selected ball (not closer to the hole and cannot improve from Rough to Fairway)
  • This procedure is repeated until the hole is complete or until you reach a team bogey
  • If all four balls are lost or out of bounds, the best ball shall be dropped one club length on the Fairway at the point of exit (one penalty stroke)
  • On the putting green:
    • All balls must be placed not further than four inches from the selected ball (not nearer the hole)
    • All team members must putt before second putts are taken:
      • If the first player to putt misses with his/her putt, then hits a second putt into the hole, that “two-putt” completes the hole and the team score
      • The other team members are not given the chance to finish the hole with a “one-putt”

What are the gimmicks? We’re glad you asked!

  • Hole 6 / 14 - Closest to the Pin
    • Each golfer will hit a tee shot
    • The closest shot to the hole from each foursome (on the green) will record on a notepad
    • If your ball is not closer than the previous group’s, you will not record it
    • There will be a prize for the winner
  • Hole 3 - Vegas Hole ($10 BUY-IN EACH PERSON)
    • Each golfer will hit a tee shot
    • If the ball lands on the green, you will receive a prize
    • There will not be any mulligans used for this shot
  • Hole 9 / 12 - Longest Drive
    • Each golfer will hit a tee shot
    • The furthest shot to the hole from each foursome (on the fairway) will record on a notepad
    • If your ball is not further than the previous groups or not on the fairway, you will not record it
    • Winner (one man and one woman) will receive a prize
  • Hole 13 - Beat the Pro ($40 BUY-IN FOR THE GROUP)
    • If you would like a great opportunity for an EAGLE or an ALBATROSS, or even a HOLE-IN-ONE on the PAR 5, here’s your chance!
    • For $20, you will be able to place your ball at the 150yd marker as your “first shot”

Will there be any snacks or beverages? There will be cold water bottles at the holes, and we will have volunteer staff coming around in a golf cart with snacks for purchase and complimentary beer.

We’re done golfing, what do we do? Please turn your scorecard to Ruby Hill staff by the lounge. The scores from all teams will be checked and the winning team will be announced during dinner and on our website. Please note if your scorecard is not turned in, you will forfeit any chance of winning!

What’s for dinner? Dinner will begin at 5pm and will be sponsored by our local favorite Spin-A-Yarn.

What are the prizes? During dinner, we will announce the winners. There will be a winner for a men’s group, women’s group, and mixed group.

That’s a wrap! During check-in we will be asking for a credit card to put into our secure website to make the check-out process much faster at the end of the night. We will run credit cards through the website the next day and a receipt will be sent to you via email.

Who can I contact if I have a question about these golfing rules? Please feel free to connect with Robert Smith at rdsmith2450@gmail.com and he will be more than happy to answer your question and provide assistance.
